Don’t Leave Your Dog in the Car.

Lab Puppy saying Don’t Leave Me in the Car!

Summer time is approaching which means it’s going to get warmer outside. We all have busy schedules and some days I know we are running around like crazy trying to get all of our chores done.

If you are a dog person who likes to take their dog everywhere then that means you either need to have a list of errands of places that allow pets or you can’t bring your dog with you. There is a thought out there among some people who believe it’s ok to leave your Lab in the car as long as you just run in quickly and leave the windows cracked. Well it’s not ok and we are asking you don’t leave your dog in the car.

The temperature inside a hot car can heat up 20 degrees above the outside temperature in just 10 minutes and almost 35 degrees above the outside temperature in 30 minutes. This means at 80 degrees outside, the temperature of your car inside can reach 115 in just 30 minutes.

Cracking the windows isn’t enough. Parking your car in the shade as well isn’t enough. These are all unnecessary risks that responsible pet owners should not be taking with their animals.

So, plan ahead. Don’t forget you have your Labrador with you and think “I can just run in for a minute and run right back out.” There have been cases where the person gets distracted and forgets about their dog only to come out to their pet suffering from heat exhaustion.

Please, please, don’t risk it. Get on board with the Lucky Labs family and make a commitment to never leave your dog in a car alone. Your dog will thank you.
