7 Labrador retriever New Year’s resolutions

Labrador Retriever With Face Covered With Some Snow

It’s a new year, 2019! And my Chocolate Lab has a short list of mandatory 7 Labrador retriever New Year’s resolutions . I mean, not that a Labrador Retriever has to work on improving their temperament because it is perfect just as it is right???

So let’s get down to it, the short list of Labrador Retriever resolutions. I don’t know if you have made any resolutions yourself, but a talk over coffee this morning has made me  realize that I’m not half the man my dog is. Labs can’t talk you say? Well if you are with them from the Labrador puppy stage to adulthood you get to know them pretty well.

1. Eat fewer cheese slices. “Let’s face it, I’m not the slim Labrador puppy I once was so I need to be conscious about  my waistline for my trip to the Dominican.”

2. Bark less at the mail lady. “That poor girl is always so happy and says hi to me through the window, I need to be mindful that she is here to deliver my hooman’s mail, not steal my cheese slices.”  (not that I am eating cheese slices anymore)

3. I will try to take less of the bed up so my hoomans can sleep better. “I realize they are too primal to understand that I am sharing my bed with them, so I should cut them some slack and stop sprawling out all over the place. After all, they are only hooman.”

4. I will get more exercise. “Laying around all day is bad for my heart and health. Beginning today I will leash my hooman’s hand and drag him down the sidewalk faster than he has ever been dragged!”

5. I will meditate more. “Maybe even get into a yoga class so that I can better myself and be at peace with myself. If they only knew all the meditation it takes to be as happy as I am, maybe they would do it too.”

6. I will stop barking at the dog next door! I know he has different beliefs than I do but that is what makes this country great! I will believe what I want and let others do the same.”

7. Lastly, I will appreciate what I have. “I have so many toys, clean water, heat and air conditioning, friends, food and so much more that I will be so appreciative of what I have I won’t have time to complain.”

So now that your Lab has made 7 Labrador retriever New Year’s resolutions, shouldn’t you do that too?
